Project Description

Meet Mark!

In your view, what is special about meditation?
M Program
Meditation is taking time to really live the journey of life. It is the now. It is tranquility. It uncovers purpose. It is stillness. It is seeing things as they are. It is subtlety and possibility. Then there is the growth that is available through meditation. It is composure, resilience, joy, acceptance, courage, contentedness, flexibility, compassion, kindness… the marks of real leadership.

Why do you think meditation belongs in the corporation?
M Program
For the same reason it belongs in every heart: Growth in global consciousness and human potential. Balance will come sooner if the attention is set in areas where hearts already come together with a common mission that transcends basic reactions. When the right personal and global mission is given the importance of the corporate mission, headway will be made!

What character traits do your colleagues seek in you?
M Program
An ability to see a vision through the clutter.

Growing up, what was your dream job?
M Program
I hadn’t planned that far ahead when I was younger. Beyond a few extracuriculars, I kept my nose in the books knowing that someday it would pay off. My exposure to a varied world of careers was limited, so when it came time to settle in, I went the safe route of becoming a sales engineer. Can’t say it was a dream job, but it worked out great.

What is your favorite place on earth?
M Program
In the spring it is my front yard garden. In the summer it is my back yard. In the winter, it is San Diego beaches or anywhere after a cold water swim. In the fall it is wherever my bicycle takes me – bike rides get my perma-grin going. 🙂

What is your most important food?
M Program
Broccoli sprouts for nutritional value. They are so easy to grow! Okay, smoked wild salmon tastes better and does offer decent nutritional content so it’s right up there as amazing food. Food with family and friends is probably more important. When there is laughter and joy around a meal … life is fun.
Mark
When not volunteering, what can we find you doing?
M Program
Learning.

Of course, life needs balance, so there is a little work, a little meditation, a little relationship kindling, a little biking, a little swimming, a little running, a little cooking & cleaning, a little reading, a little neurofeedback training, a little fixing things etc… It’s amazing how much more time there is when you avoid TV and media distractions.

I am an engineer working with others on a few new transformative technologies (neurofeedback endeavors). I look after the transformative technology evaluation for M Program. My passion lies at the intersection of meditation and technology.

Collaborate with the IEET and the Institute of Technology Assisted Meditation (ITAM) in the Bay area. Always engaged with the extended community of those of us that explore the meditation and technology side. It’s also great to support other leaders with meditation every chance I get.
