Project Description
Meet Robert!
In your view, what is special about meditation?
It provides an opportunity to find and create spaces between stimulus and response in order to develop the capacity to respond freely to circumstances in real life. For me, meditation shows its value when it translates into behavior that I am proud of when I am not meditating.
Why do you think meditation belongs in the corporation?
Corporations tend to be hot beds of non-stop activity, habit, and reaction. Their members, and the organizations as a whole, could benefit immensely from a change in culture in which stopping to reflect is valued, and in which decisions are made based on reality as it actually is. The presence of meditation in a corporation would also send a message to employees, shareholders, vendors, and customers that the corporation values the health and well-being of its members.
What character traits do your colleagues seek in you?
Intelligence, perspective, patience, focus, reliability, responsiveness, technical knowledge, clarity of expression, and holistic problem-solving.
Growing up, what was your dream job?
Science fiction author
What is your favorite place on earth?
In a comfortable chair writing with pen and paper, wherever that may be.
What is your most important food?
Broccoli, in any way, shape, or form, even raw on the stalk.
When not volunteering, what can we find you doing?
Writing (mostly about science, technology, law, and mindfulness), reading voraciously (mostly about the same topics), studying karate, and helping my partner with her goat and vegetable farm. Oh, also, I run a small law firm. I need to develop my sleeping practice.
